Preparation is the Key to Your Success

PreparationYou will never reap a continual harvest until you are willing to sow a consistent seed.
In this case – the seed I encourage you to sow is the seed of preparation.  Too many people haphazardly move through life with little or no thought to preparing for the important events and projects in their life.  They think that in some way simply by showing up – things will come together and somehow work out.  Allow me to burst that dream bubble for just a moment to let you know that things don’t automatically “work out”.  Using the words of the great coach John Wooden:
“Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out”
How much preparation are you putting in to becoming world class at your craft?
Preparation is the only way you will ever excel at what you do.  There is a moment when you are going to be given an opportunity to take your life in a dramatically different direction that will lead you to great success; but if you have not prepared for that moment then you will miss that opportunity.
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
You will succeed in life not because of your raw talent or ability; you will succeed because you were willing to prepare when others were taking it easy.  You were willing to do what others refused to do so that you could become what others will never become.
Learn the art of preparation today.  Prepare thoroughly for every meeting and every project of life.  If it is important enough to land on your calendar then it is important enough to prepare to execute it with excellence.  The only way to be excellent when everyone is watching is to practice excellence when no one is watching.  Go out and prepare today.  Your game winning shot at life is just around the corner.  Are you ready?
